Welcome to My Jewish Legacy

My name is Elyse Bodenheimer and this project is part of my Bat-Mitzvah education.  I am hoping that this website will become a starting place for kids and teens to share stories about their grandparents’ journeys in escaping or surviving the holocaust.  I want to learn more about what it was like to be a child living during the holocaust, and to also document what happened to my own family.

I have posted some stories about my grandparents under the section "My Family Stories".  And I would also like to post other children's and teen's stories about their grandparents.   I hope to spread the idea to others about how everyone can learn and be inspired by the courage shown by these amazing stories.

Learning about my grandparents who escaped the holocaust made me feel proud to be a Jew.  I am hoping that this project will keep those memories alive!

Did your grandparents survive the holocaust?  Have you asked them about their stories, and what they remember?  Would you write for me a story about your grandparents, and even send a picture, so that I can post it on my website?

Please help me with this project and tell your friends about what I am doing and how I am trying to inspire others.  To submit your story or your comments, please click on the link and follow the instructions!

Thanks very much for visiting my webpage.

This project is dedicated to the memory of my Grandpa, Bert Bodenheimer, who died on March 8, 2008.

A million thanks to my father’s good friend, Will Lamoreaux, for being my webmaster and putting together this website.
